AHR expression in cancer Perhaps the earliest indicator that the AHR might play an ongoing role in tumorigenesis, independent of its role in generating mutations, was the demonstration that non-genotoxic 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo(p)dioxin (TCDD) is a carcinogen in animals and humans [7]. Althoug

Adenosine and tumor microenvironment In the majority of carcinogenic processes a proinflammatory state is generated [36], [37]. In addition, a tumor hypoxic environment is generally due to inadequate perfusion of oxygen to the tumor [38]. Immunomodulators are molecules that regulate the immune r

Introduction Myasthenia gravis (MG) is an autoimmune disease in which antibodies against targets on the postsynaptic muscle membrane cause neuromuscular transmission failure. About 85% of patients with MG have autoantibodies against Sal 003 receptor (AChR) [1]. In AChR negative MG patients antibo

However, although in vitro studies in heterologous systems have provided very important indications of potential novel pharmacology, the studies with endogenous receptors in native tissues are essential to provide evidence for GPCR heteromerization in vivo and to confirm its physiological relevance.

MMP9 is the most critical protease which is involved in the degradation of ECM. TIMP-1 is an important regulator in the synthesis and degradation of ECM [8,9]. Hepatic TIMP-1 expression significantly increases in patients with liver fibrosis [10]. Serum level of TIMP-1 expression is positively assoc

AMPK is a serine/threonine protein kinase composed of a catalytic α subunit with the activating phosphorylation site (Thr172) and two regulatory subunits, β and γ. The two AMPK variants, α1 and α2, show different cellular localization in mammalian cells. AMPKα2 is detected in nuclear and non-nuclear
