After initial optimization of the distances we obtained the structure iG shown schematically in Fig. 1. This is the telomeric fragment of chromosome with the noncanonical structures of i-motif and G-quadruplex placed symmetrically in the middle of the duplex. Obviously, we consider the situation whe

Recently, the classical view of the compartmentalization of the plant isoprenoid metabolism has been re-evaluated, following the demonstration of the partial peroxisomal localization of the mevalonic resveratrol (MVA) pathway, generally regarded as cytosolic. Using GFP-tagging approaches, the last t

  2022-08-08

Traditional methods for HATs activity assays mainly depend on radioisotope labelling of histone substrates, which is limited by the complex procedures, hazards and wastes of radioactive materials. Hence, various alternative approaches such as electrochemical analysis, fluorescence and colorimetric a

Most hexokinases are widely expressed but distinct hexokinases predominate specific tissues (Katzen and Schimke, 1965, Rogers et al., 1975). Hexokinase I is found in all mammalian tissues, but is most abundant in the KJ Pyr 9 and kidney (griffin et al., 1992). Hexokinase II is the primary hexokinas

There are important questions that remain to be answered. How does Rap2a protein affect NF-κB activation? Why do Rap2a silencing and overexpression results to the identical hampered NF-κB activation phenotype? Overexpression experiments have demonstrated that atypical κB-Ras GTPases could inhibit NF

  2022-08-05

Also, the decrease in adipocyte cAMP levels seen after an acute glucose challenge in wild-type mice was strongly reduced in mice lacking GPR81, indicating that the activation of PDE3B alone was not sufficient to mediate the effect of insulin on cAMP levels and lipolytic activity. The fact that insul

Surrogate ligands for GPR35 Although identification of endogenously produced chemicals with agonist action at GPR35 is of considerable importance, the ligands described above are far from ideal to probe the roles of GPR35. Surrogate ligands are therefore required. Until recently, the key GPR35 ag

  2022-08-05

Given that inactivation of GLO1 by 4BAB is an active site directed mechanism, as the transition state analogue CHG protects GLO1 against inactivation by 4BAB (Figs. 2D and S6b), we next set out to determine the amino l6 that is covalently modified by 4BAB. From the X-ray crystallographic structures

  2022-08-05

During the structural transition, the FD, the PHD and the TrD retain their tertiary structure. Nevertheless, they undergo large rearrangements in their relative orientation due to secondary changes in hinge segments (R1 to R5) which refold during the low-pH induced conformational change. Particularl

  2022-08-05

These differences have led to the recognition that the extent to which transport contributes to shaping postsynaptic signals likely reflects a balance between the density of transporters and the amount of l-glutamate in the synaptic cleft. Consequently, those synapses exhibiting the characteristics

  2022-08-05

Interestingly, mGlu2 and mGlu3 receptors differ notably by their cellular distribution. Whereas mGlu2 receptors are mostly neuronal, mGlu3 receptors are expressed both in glia and in neurons. In neurons, mGlu3 receptors are present at the post-synapse and in presynaptic elements (Tamaru et al., 2001
