  2022-07-13

Compared to methadone or morphine, buprenorphine is a partial mu-opioid agonist, which shows high affinity for, and slow dissociation from, mu-opioid receptors. This maintenance of homeostasis may help to counter the development of an overt withdrawal syndrome, and may explain the lower risk of deve

• Obestatin synthetized mainly in the gastrointestinal tract

  2022-07-13

Obestatin, synthetized mainly in the gastrointestinal tract, participates in the regulation of metabolic functioning at both central and peripheral levels (food intake, pancreatic activity or/and adipocytes proliferation) (Granata et al., 2008; Li et al., 2011). It is involved in the complex gut-bra

Brief overview of the glutamate system and rationale for targeting the glycine site of NMDARs In the central nervous system (CNS), glutamate is the major excitatory neurotransmitter and works in concert with gamma-aminobutyric DS2 sale (GABA), the primary inhibitory neurotransmitter. Together, G

Na+/K+-ATPase, Salirasib and astrocytic glutamate transporters act together to maintain sodium and potassium gradients and the proper activities of EAAT1 and EAAT2 (Rose et al., 2009; Sheean et al., 2013); nevertheless, in present study, Na+/K+-ATPase activity was shown to be increased as from 24 h

In addition to the increase of extracellular glutamate, ICH can also increase the levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and oxidative stress. Although the products of red blood cell lysis and plasma components, as well as the excitotoxic effect of glutamate have been to increase oxidative damage (

  2022-07-13

Introduction Opioids have long been used in pain management [1]. However, their non-medical use has grown rapidly in the last few years. Hydrocodone (HYD) is one of the most widely used short-acting opioids; with over 136.7 million prescriptions in 2011 [2]. HYD is a semi-synthetic opioid used fo

Materials and methods Results Discussion The glucose transporter GLUT1 can be acutely activated or inhibited in L929 fibroblast Vandetanib hydrochloride by a wide variety of reagents or nutrient conditions [[9], [10], [11], [12],36,50]. This abrupt change in the activity of GLUT1 occurs wi

  2022-07-13

With the advent of genome sequencing, hexokinase gene sequences are now available from a far greater number of vertebrate species, as well as from diverse non-vertebrate animal species. As indicated above, searches of vertebrate genome sequences revealed the existence of a novel fifth member of the

Many studies support that Gli transcription factors are not solely regulated by Hh/smo signaling but are also influenced by crosstalk with other pathways, such as RAS, PI3K/AKT, transforming growth factor-b/SMAD, PKC, or extracellular signal-regulated kinase pathways which are downstream and indepen

  2022-07-12

Studies on FXR knockout mice demonstrated that FXR activity is necessary to maintain a proper integrity of intestinal tight junction [18]. HF diet-induced bowel dysfunction impaired FXR activity and affected fecal BA profile. Generally, it augmented the concentration of secondary BAs in the colon e.

  2022-07-12

Studies have revealed that ferroptosis is non-apoptotic and peroxidation-driven form of cell death that requires abundant and accessible cellular Fe2+, and thus, the balance of Fe2+ metabolism is of great significance in regulating the process of ferroptosis (Cao and Dixon, 2016; Xie et al., 2016; Y

  2022-07-12

Factor Xa (FXa) has emerged as a particularly promising target for the development of effective anticoagulant drugs because FXa acts at the convergence point of the extrinsic and intrinsic coagulation pathways. It efficiently catalyzes the conversion of prothrombin to thrombin with one molecule of F

To discriminate the peripheral and central involvement of FAAH in paracetamol action, we proposed a pharmacological strategy challenging the analgesic action of paracetamol observed in an inflammatory context with either a peripherally-restricted FAAH inhibitor (URB937, Clapper et al., 2010, Moreno-

One limitation of our study was that all control dogs had histologic evidence of mild GI inflammation according to established WSAVA guidelines (Washabau et al., 2010), despite being apparently healthy purpose-bred research dogs housed in a controlled environment with no history of vomiting, diarrhe
